Ukrainian side Metalurh Donetsk have signed Brazilian attacking winger Ze Soares from Levski Sofia FC for 400 000 euro on January 15, Dnevnik daily reported.

Ze Soares has agreed personal terms with his new club. This deal has been in the works since November 2009, when Levski owner Todor Batkov said that the player was bound for Ukraine for 400 000 euro.

However, the first time around when the Bulgarian champions attempted offloading the player in December 2009, the deal had reportedly collapsed because the winger failed the medical. Reportedly, he was diagnosed with discopathy, a condition usually found at the intervertebral disk.

Following the medical report, Levski sent the player to Germany where he underwent extensive medical examination and it was subsequently revealed that there was nothing wrong with him. Metalurh Donetsk medical staff eventually confirmed that Ze Soares was indeed, healthy and the deal was finalised.

Levski Sofia is yet to officially confirm the deal and reveal further details. Meanwhile, Bulgarian sports site sportal.bg said that the transfer was worth 350 000 euro, and that Ze Soares signed a one year contract with the option for a one year extension.

This is the club’s second sale of the transfer window, following the departure of fullback Zhivko Milanov to Romanian side FC Vaslui.

Soares will join two Bulgarians already in the Ukrainian side, Velizar Dimitrov and Chavdar Yankov.

Milanov, who is in Switzerland to pass a medical, is expected to sign for FC Aarau following revelations that both clubs have agreed on the deal.

Miodrag Jesic from Libyan side Al-Ittihad Tripoli is expected to return for a second spell at the helm of CSKA.
