Closed schools, blocked roads, cancelled trains or nightmarish vehicular traffic. This is the situation on Monday in Southeastern Romania due to the snow storms and snowfall, Romanian Evenimentul Zilei daily writes.
Hundreds of people are blocked in their cars close to the city of Lehliu, county of Calarasi. Teams of the Department for Emergency Situations are trying to handle the situation in the region.
Bucharest also is in snowdrifts. On Monday morning the mayor of the Romanian capital city Sorin Oprescu summoned the service for management in winter conditions. He called on the residents of the city to leave their vehicles at home. The winter has left dozens of roads unusable. A1 highway between Bucharest and Pitesti was closed on Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. and A2 highway also remains closed in its section between Bucharest and Drajna.
