Rafa waits to unleash Torres on Romanians

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres will be on the bench for Thursday’s Europa League clash with Unirea Urziceni.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez has pledged not to rush his star striker back after five weeks on the sidelines recovering from a knee operation.

„We knew we could use him against [Manchester] City. The idea was for 15-20 minutes but still he is not ready,” said Benitez.

„He needs match fitness and has to play and train, and we will see later on how he is coming along.

„He was doing very well with the physios and fitness coach. He is really happy.

„We decided to put him in the squad (against City) because he was training well last Friday. Now he can carry on and progress. He will be ready soon.”

Liverpool fans are taking advantage of the to back Benitez’s men to come through a testing Europa League tie with the Romanian champions.

The Reds hold a 1-0 first leg lead going into with virtually a full-strength squad to choose from, apart from Glen Johnson.
