A woman gave 40,000 GBP in cash the boot when she threw out old shoes during a New Year clean-up at her home. Calin Tarescu, 32, had stashed the cash as a surprise for his wife as the couple saved to buy their own house. But the horrified hubby called police in Alba Iulia, Romania, when he got home to see house-proud wife Floriana’s handiwork. Amazingly, police discovered the cash had been found at the local dump by a woman who had immediately spent half of it on a flat. Now prosecutors have confiscated the apartment and more than 11,000 GBP in cash and will hand them back to Tarescu and his wife. „He was hiding the cash from his wife but he realised how stupid he’d been when she threw it all away,” said one officer.
