Skins maintained strong ratings for E4 last night, early viewing figures show.

The fourth instalment of the teen drama, which centred on Megan Prescott’s character Katie Fitch, pulled in 768k (3.9%) during the 10pm hour, up slightly on last week’s .

A further 213k (1.9%) tuned in last night on timeshift channel E4+1.

Also on the multichannel stations, ITV2 had a good night: American Idol claimed 438k (1.6%) at 8pm, 1.07m (4.1%) tuned in at 9pm for What Katie Did Next, and the 10pm Secret Diary Of A Call Girl logged 580k (2.6%).

Elsewhere, the new series of MasterChef opened to 3.78m (14.4%) for BBC One between 8.30pm and 10pm.

Over on BBC Two, the 8pm Simon King’s Shetland Diaries had 2.19m (8.1%), then Mock The Week and Rab C Nesbitt took 2.38m (9.2%) and 1.48m (5.7%) during the 9pm hour.

The Bill managed 3.83m (14.7%) for ITV1 at 9pm.

Channel 4’s My Dream Farm interested 990k (3.7%) at 8pm, then the audience climbed to 4.5m (17.3%) during the 9pm screening of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.

Five’s coverage of Liverpool’s game against Unirea Urziceni averaged 2.25m (8.7%) between 7.30pm and 10pm.

Overall, BBC One came top during primetime with an average share of 23.8% to ITV1’s 18.6%. Channel 4 was third with 8.3% (+1: 1.2%), followed by Five’s 7.2% and BBC Two with 5.5%.
