Steven Gerrard is confident about Liverpool’s prospects of advancing to the next round of the Europa League after skippering his side to a 1-0 victory against Unirea Urziceni in the first leg of their last-32 clash.
The England midfielder was in the thick of the action at Anfield as the Reds worked hard to break down the Romanian champions.
David Ngog’s 81st minute goal is all that separated the two teams but Gerrard said: „I think we’ll get more joy away from home against these.
„They’ll have to come out and try to beat us. I’m confident we can win more convincingly away from home.”
The Europa League offers Rafael Benitez’s men their only chance of winning silverware this year. Liverpool will face Lille or Turkish side Fenerbahce if they reach the last 16.
