Sony have released a press statement confirming that Spiderman 4, which is just entitled Spiderman for the time being, will be released in the technology-of-the-moment, 3D on July 3rd, 2012.
The new film is to be directed by Marc Webb and will start production later on this year with James Vanderbilt writing the script. Columbia pictures have hired Avi Arad and Marvel Studio’s have sent along Laura Ziskin to produce the film.
No other details regarding the reboot have been released, apart from the news that the film will be shot in 3D just like other box office smash films have adapted in recent times.
Jeff Blake who is the Sony Pictures Chairman is quoted to say that “Spider-Man is the ultimate summer movie-going experience, and we’re thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3D. Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc’s fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise.”
It is not known who will take over the part of Peter Parker, with rumors circlating that Robert Pattinson and a number of other celebrities are suggested to take over the part. More news as we receive it.
