The youngster’s time in Spain looks to have come to an end…

Brazilian full-back Thiago Carleto looks set to seal a return to his homeland after the player admitted that a switch to Sao Paulo is edging closer.

The 20-year old left-sided defender has made little impact during his time in Spain after his move from Santos in 2008, and he has spent this season out on loan to Segunda Division side Elche.

reports that Carleto is coveted by Sao Paulo, who want to sign the player on a long term deal, and the player said of a possible transfer, “Sao Paulo sent through all of the documentation last Friday, but Valencia want to amend some clauses in the contract.

A contract until the summer of 2014 is allegedly been tabled to Carleto, and both the player and Los Che have been in regular contact with Elche sporting director Jesus Huerta to keep him updated on developments.

It is thought that Valencia want to incorporate a buy-back clause into the deal, whereby the player may be able to make a return to Spain in future if suitable for both parties.

Romanian side FC Timisoara had also expressed an interest in a possible deal, but the player desires a return to Brazil.
