A BRITISH-bound passenger plane was involved in a security alert today and had to turn back only 15 minutes into its flight, according to reports.

The incident is believed to have involved a Wizz Air plane which had left Timisoara in Romania bound for Luton Airport.

It is thought Timisoara airport received an anonymous call shortly after the plane took off this morning.

Officials at the airport were reported as saying that all 165 passengers on the flight had been safely evacuated.

On Luton airport’s website today, flight W6703 from Timisoara, which was scheduled to land at 7.20am, was listed as delayed until 1.15pm.
