PFC Levski Sofia lost 2-3 to Romania’s FCM Targu Mures in their first friendly on Austrian soil. The match started with a minute silence in memory of Levski’s stars Georgi Asparuhov and Nikola Kotkov, who died in a car crash thirty-nine years ago.

The blue played a 4-2-3-1 system, the four defenders being Stanchev, Miliev, Benzukan and Minev, while Yovov and Baltanov played as inner midfielders; Joaozinho was on the left wind and Kirov played on the right, while Alexander Alexandrov played just behind forward Ismail Isa.

The Blue totally dominated the pitch in the first half and the Romanian goalie had a lot of work keeping his net safe. Paradoxically, however, the only shot on goal of the Romanians stopped in Levski’s net.

Six minutes after the first whistle Joaozinho got Alexandrov’s pass behind Targu Mures’ defense, but his shot was blocked by Slava and Michael.

Six minutes later Miliev fouled a Romanian player just outside the penalty area and Sebastian Sfarlea opened the score for the Romanian team.

Twenty-five minutes into the first half got a perfect pass from Joaozinho and tried a shot, the ball eventually stopped in the rushing in Isa, whose shot found the crossbar. Five minutes later, a perfect combination between Yovov, Kirov and Stanchev resulted in a pass to Alexandrov, but his header missed the goal.

Shortly after that Isa’s shot was saved by the Romanian goalie.

Towards the end of the first half, Joaozinho missed two excellent chances to equalize the score.

In the first seconds of the second half, Romanians’ substitute Roman made the score 2-0 of a collective error of the Blue defense. Fourteen minutes later Levski’s response came with a shot from Baltanov, which was saved miraculously by the Romanian goalie.

Twenty minutes before full-time Levski coach Yassen Petrov let in a group of nine players, who gave new strength to the Blue from Sofia. Six minutes later Dani Mladenov made the score 2-1 after a brilliant combination between Telkiyski and Tassevski.

However, the Blue joy was short-lived, as Florin Dan made it 3-1 just a minute later. Still, ten minutes before full-time Dani   Mladenov scored a goal of honor for the Blue with a brilliant volley from 25 meters.
