Hundreds of freight trucks were halted on Monday morning near the border between Giurgiu and Ruse, close to the city of Giurgiu and nearby settlements, and are waiting for the traffic restrictions for trucks to be lifted, Romanian Mediafax news agency reports.
The police in the city of Giurgiu say the truck drivers were given hot tea and so far none of them reported an incident or poor health.
On Monday morning the snow blocked two national roads in the county of Giurgiu and 18 regional ones. 16 settlements do not have power.
Trucks heavier than 7,5 tons are banned from traveling on the roads in the counties of Giurgiu, Calarasi, Ialomita, Buzau, Braila, Galati, Ilfov, Prahova and Vrancea.
